Flooding has gone on for far too long

To the editor:

Thank you so much for the article on the flooding (on Illinois Drive).

They are my family. I know the heartache that they have been dealing with. The mayor has ignored their request for a long time.

If they had fixed the problem when they restructured the drainage system there wouldn’t be a problem. Both the school and city  should buy them out now!

This has gone on long enough. It is time to get the health department involved. Thank you for covering this. And thank you, Paula Hopkins, for standing beside them.

Many made library event a success

To the editor:

The crew of the HMS Hotspur, a local chapter of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, would like to send out a big thank you for all the people that participated in the euchre night/silent auction fundraiser held on Aug. 10 to raise funds for the Rantoul Public Library’s much-needed new roof. The event raised over $1,100.

A special thanks to the following for donating items to make this event a success: Barbara Guthrie, Bill Wagner, Carol Penrod, China Express (Rantoul), Christopher Dundon, Craig Lithgow, Dairy Queen (Rantoul), Dr. Doug and Carol Rokke, Earl Krause (UniqueWoodProducts.ca), El Toro Mexican Restaurant, Fern Wakely, Jamaica Tan, Jessica Holmes, Jill’s Creative Expressions, Joyce Fligor, Mary Winters-Meyer, Michael Flanagan, Monical’s Pizza Restaurant, Rantoul Public Library and Thiel’s Consignments.

I would like to also send a special thank you to God and the following people who helped behind the scenes to make this event a success: Violet LaPine, Debra Fligor and Faith Steinberg.

Finally, we would like to thank all of the ones who advertised the event.  Business owners posted flyers, the Rantoul Press had an article in the paper and WCIA3 had it on the news the Sunday before.  We had people come and participate because of you.
