To the editor:

I greatly appreciate your confidence by electing me to the RCS school board three years ago.

I am proud of the time I have spent serving Rantoul, our students and staff. It is with a heavy heart that I have resigned from the board.

I have given a great deal of thought to this decision for well over a year. There comes a time when you’ve given all you can give, and I have reached that point. I saw a quote recently that said "Stay in your own lane." That resonated with me deeply.

Politics is not my lane. Many times I was met with resistance instead of understanding; dismissed instead of being engaged in a collaborative discussion. The toxicity has slowly seeped into my life.

Making this decision brought me instant peace. I continuously advocated for our children and voiced your concerns. I will continue to do so through different avenues.

We must invest in our future, our children. We must meet their needs so they have the ability to succeed. We must make them the priority. Thank you for your support.

As always, stand up for what you believe in.
