High school football predictions from the so-called experts

It all comes down to this. The high school football season will end this weekend at Memorial Stadium in Champaign when eight state title games take place on the turf.

Turkey on the turf is what high school coaches like to call this weekend.

After this year’s slate of games, the state championship games will move to Northern Illinois University’s Huskie Stadium in DeKalb starting in 2013 and every odd year through 2021, with the game at Memorial Stadium taking place in even years because of Illinois’ football schedule.

Just like we’ve done all season, our panel of prognosticators — Fred Kroner, Marcus Jackson and Jim Rossow of The News-Gazette, Matt Daniels of the Rantoul Press, Andrew Helregel of the Piatt County Journal-Republican, Andrew Rosten of the Paxton Record and Nora Maberry-Daniels of The Leader are here to give you their predictions one last time. Enjoy.

Kroner worked his magic once again. He picked all 10 semifinal games correctly to hold a slim one-game lead over Jackson. We’ll see the close race ultimately decided after this weekend.
