Bunnies end losing streak in OT thriller over Lexington

LEXINGTON — The Fisher boys basketball team was in desperate need of a win.

Reeling after four straight losses to Heyworth, Flanagan-Cornell, Eureka and Urbana University High, the Bunnies finally squeaked one out with a 50-49 overtime victory over Lexington Friday night.

Jaden Jones-Watkins’ 20 points led the way, while Dalton Burk contributed 13 points and Ryan Meents added 10 in the Heart of Illinois Conference matchup.

Against Uni High last Tuesday, neither the Bunnies nor the Illineks could get much offense going, but Uni High emerged with a 45-43 triumph. The Illineks (14-9) were led by Noah Blue’s 19 points, and the Bunnies (13-13) got 19 points from Kade Thomas and 12 by Jones-Watkins.

Fisher faced Tri-Valley Tuesday, but results were not available at press time. The Bunnies finish the regular season against Fieldcrest on Friday’s senior night before a rematch with Uni High Monday in the first round of the Milford Regional. Fisher is the regional’s No. 8 seed.
