Three reasons we love sports this week

Sports Editor Matt Daniels’ three reasons we love sports this week.

1. Travis Britt, a 2012 Rantoul Township High School graduate, has played a pivotal role in helping the Coffeyville Community College men’s basketball team jump out to a 19-1 record heading into the Ravens’ game on Wednesday against Kansas City Kansas Community College. Britt is averaging 6.2 points a game, sixth on the team.

2. The Rantoul Recreation Department is now accepting registration for its 2013 co-rec volleyball league. The deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 22, with a fee due at registration.

All games will take place at the Forum Fitness Center starting the week of March 4. Interested participants may register by calling 217-893-5702 or by visiting the Rantoul Recreation Administration Building.

3. The RTHS football program will hold a banquet from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, in the RTHS cafetorium. For more information about the banquet, contact Mitch Wilson at 217-892-2151 or by email at mwilson@rths.k12.il.us.
