Ramon “Bud” E. Huss, 75, of Champaign, father of a Rantoul resident, died at 6:23 p.m. April 21, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Huss was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Ste Marie, a son of Albert and Bertha Geltz Huss. He married Martha Hazel McClain Sept. 15, 1960, in South Carolina. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Martha (James) Decker of Seymour; three sons, Tim (Annette) Huss of Rantoul, Deran (Judy) Huss of Champaign and Michael Huss of Urbana; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dale (Mary) Huss of Broadlands.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings, John, Clifford, Leroy, Louis, Chester and Hale Huss, Geniva Hahn, Beulah Raef and Gloria Beucherie.
Mr. Huss was proud to have served four years in the U.S. Army. He worked at Meadow Gold for 31 years, during which time he spent 28 years as a semi truck driver and three years working inside the plant. He was a member of Teamsters Local 26.
He was a life member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Post 0932.
Mr. Huss was particularly proud of his roots as well as the fact that he was an American. He was fond of the Newton/Ste. Marie area, where he grew up and never missed an opportunity to discuss that fact with people.
