Clifford G. Darnall, 80, of Champaign, brother of a Rantoul resident, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Country Health Nursing Home, Gifford, where he had been a resident for 7 1/2 months.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. The Rev. Paul Unger will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana.
Mr. Darnall was born Aug. 17, 1931, at Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, a son of Frank Lee and Daisy Irene Harris Darnall. He never married.
Survivors include four brothers, Frank Darnall of Schaumburg, Harold Darnall of Rantoul, Jack Darnall of Windsor, Colo., and Robert Darnall of Monticello; two sisters, Hilma Ridgely of Maroa and Jo Ann Cloud of Houston, Mo.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Darnall was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, three nephews, three great-nieces and one great-nephew.
He attended Lottie Switzer, Champaign Junior High and Champaign Central High schools. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He then worked for a cousin as an electrician at Electrical and Refrigeration Service in New Jersey until returning to Champaign. He worked for Witte Electric of Champaign for 27 years and retired from there in 1995. He was a member of the IBEC Electrical Union.
Mr. Darnall enjoyed playing the keyboard, playing cards and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was a devoted family member.
