Terry S. “Beaver” Johnson, 64, of Elliott, brother of a Paxton resident, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday,  Feb. 23, at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gibson City with the Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City.

Mr. Johnson was born May 29, 1947, in Bloomington, a son of Clifford E. and LaVerne A. (Brethorst) Johnson. He married Ellen L. Johnson May 1, 1976, in Gibson City. She survives in Elliott.

Also surviving are his children, Clint (Heather) Johnson, Amy (Joe) Higgins and Jodi Johnson, all of Gibson City; three  grandchildren;  two brothers, Douglas (Sue) Johnson of Sibley and Randy (Holly) Johnson of Guthrie; and two sisters, Julie Gerdes of Paxton and Pamela (Tim) Gardner of Gibson City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Pettit.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed trapping, fishing and hunting. He worked at M&W Gear Company in Gibson City for 18 years, and he was a longtime farmer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. and attending many sporting events.

Memorial tributes may be made to the American Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Gibson Area Hospital.
