Village board OKs senior villa project plat

Work is expected to begin soon on construction of a 42-unit senior villa project in Rantoul.

The village board Tuesday night approved a revised plat for the project, which will be built on the community’s east side, north of Brookstone Estates.

The meeting had been continued from the board’s Nov. 13 regular meeting because of a problem with provisions in the plat.

Village Attorney Ken Beth said earlier that some of the property included in the project was owned by a condominium association, and some adjustments were needed.

Village Clerk Mike Graham said the village and the developers worked out issues regarding ownership of nearby streets.

Also, instead of Twin Lakes Court, an area near the senior villa project will be called Alta Brown Court.

“The guy from the company said they’re going to start working right away,” Graham said, adding that the company is hoping for a mild winter.

Miller-Valentine Residential Construction, Cincinnati, plans to build the ranch-style multiplex villas.

The project will include a mixture of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

Graham said the project is financed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
