Rantoul man given final sendoff

By Rantoul Press

Mark Crank was sent out in style.

The 56-year-old Rantoul man died Feb. 8 from cancer. Known for his generosity in helping others, Mr. Crank’s friends and family wanted to send him to his final resting place in fitting fashion.

Mr. Crank was a truck driver for most of his life and loved to ride motorcycles.

Following his funeral Feb. 13 at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, Mr. Crank’s casket was mounted atop a flat bed semi trailer truck and driven to his final resting place at Willowbrook Cemetery, Fisher by Carl Brooks.

Members of High Rollers Motorcycle Club, of which he was a member, were part of the procession.

Mr. Crank was a semi driver until his health declined from liver cancer and was known for devoting his time to numerous benefits around the area. He was a foster parent to two young children.

A benefit poker run is scheduled April 28 to help Mr. Crank’s family pay bills from his medical treatments.

Final details have not been set for the poker run, which will start at noon at The Rose Bowl in Urbana with a first stop in Rantoul. An auction, food, music and raffles will be part of the event.

Those willing to donate either money or through a donated item may contact Barb Stover at 217-419-6568, Dawn Gaines at 217-766-5424 or Debbie Woodbeck at 217-417-9243.

Memorials may be made to the Mark Crank Fund at Fisher National Bank.
