Unity for Community effort to be part of Community Night Out

RANTOUL — The village of Rantoul will hold its annual Community Night Out Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Several neighborhoods and organizations will take part.

Twin Lakes Villas will get an early start with activities from 1-3 p.m. at the clubhouse.

Twin Lakes Condos will start their activities at 6 p.m. at 338 Gibbs Drive.

From 5-7 p.m., Golfview Village will hold activities at Monarch Park behind the GV office.

Hope Meadows has scheduled events from 5-7 p.m. at the HM park, 1620 Fairway.

Concerned Citizens of Rantoul will hold activities from 7:45-8 p.m. at the high school.

People are asked to bring a flashlight to the high school football field “and gather as one” to exhibit unity in the community.

Transportation is available to the event. (Click on attachment.)

The event will be held in the Rantoul Township High School gymnasium if there is bad weather.

Explaining the reason for the Unity in Community event, Wendell Golston, president of the Concerned Citizens group, said, “We want (Rantoul’s) climate to stay cohesive. We want togetherness in our community.

“We are concentrating on Rantoul citizenry. We encourage others (outside of the community) to come out as well.”

It marks the first time the Concerned Citizens group has held such an event for Community Night Out.
