Safe-driving course available to Illinois veterans, families

An AARP driver safety course will be available at no charge to veterans and their families from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 14 and 15, at Rantoul Public Library, 106 W. Flessner Ave.

Participants must attend both days.

The course is available to Illinois veterans who served in the U.S Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Reserves, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard.

The promotion is offered in thanks to veterans for their service and dedication.

The course is also available to veterans' spouses, domestic partners, dependents, children, widows and widowers.

Participants taking part in the free course offer will not be asked to provide any form of veteran identification but will be required to fill out a coupon that the instructor will provide.

Under Illinois law, those 55 and older qualify for a multi-year auto insurance discount by completing the course.
