RTHS to host its royal madrigal dinner Dec. 15

Rantoul Township High School presents its royal madrigal dinner as requested by the king.

The dinner will be hosted on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16, at the Rantoul Township High School cafetorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., the meal begins at 6:30 and the performance at 7.

Promoters say the event will include “a night of fine dining, delightful music and whimsical laughter.”

A play named “Who Killed the Kilt?” will be re-enacted. At the conclusion of the performance, there will be a short recital of voice.

The medieval performance is of a jester of the court who does not understand the serious nature involved with traditional Scottish dress. His jokes about kilts get him into trouble in this madrigal script when, in fact, one has been found — murdered.

Highly interactive with the audience, this tale tries to solve the crime.

What villain knows how to wield a seam ripper and darning needle so skillfully?

Using suspects from the cast as well as the audience, the medieval-based parody of “Law & Order” is designed to keep the audience laughing until the conclusion.
