LODA — A Bayles Lake man, father of an Armstrong man, died when he crashed his pickup truck about two miles from his home Tuesday afternoon.

Randal J. Brucker, 53, of Bayles Lake, rural Loda, was pronounced dead at 5:11 p.m., Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum said. Mr. Brucker was the father of Ryan Brucker of Armstrong and had been a truck driver for Eagle Wings of Rantoul.

An autopsy was to be done Wednesday.

Cheatum said the accident occurred near the intersection of 200 North Road and 457 East Road, about a mile and a half east of Loda.

Mr. Brucker was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck east on 200 North Road when for unknown reasons he lost control, Cheatum said. His truck went into a ditch on the south side of the road and rolled, coming to a rest on its wheels, Cheatum said.

Mr. Brucker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, Cheatum said.

There were no passengers in the truck.

Cheatum said a passer-by called 911 about 4:55 p.m. after seeing the truck in a field.

No other vehicles were involved, Cheatum said.

Mr. Brucker’s obituary appears on this website.
