URBANA — A Rantoul woman is being held at the Champaign County Jail in connection with a home invasion Sunday night in Rantoul.

Mikeeta S. Walker, 22, who listed an address in Rantoul, pleaded innocent Monday to home invasion, criminal trespass to a residence and battery.

Judge Richard Klaus set her next court appearance for Jan. 29.

According to a Rantoul police report, officers were called to the 300 block of North Scott Street in Rantoul at 11:52 p.m. Sunday to respond to a report of the battery of a woman.

Police said that the 26-year-old woman heard somebody kicking at her door. When she went to the door, the woman said she saw Walker there. Police said that Walker and the victim may have been seeing the same man and had a disagreement over that.

Police said Walker forced her way into the home, picked up an object and hit the victim in the head. The woman received a cut to the head, but she refused medical attention.

The victim said Walker then ran away from the home.

When police found Walker at her own home, also in the 300 block of North Scott Street, her clothing matched that which was described by the victim.

When police handcuffed Walker, she reportedly began to kick and resist arrest.
