Fire destroys mini bus, damages house


A mini bus parked in front of a Rantoul residence was destroyed and the residence damaged by fire Friday morning.

Rantoul firefighters were called at 5:07 a.m. to 907 North Drive, where the mini bus was on fire.

Fire Chief Ken Waters said the mini bus was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

The blaze also caught a portion of the house on fire.

Waters said the house siding and a garage door were damaged. He said there was also some interior damage.

Waters estimated damage to the house at $5,000.

The mini bus, a 2000 Ford E450, was a total loss. It and the house are owned by Wendell Golston.

No injuries were reported.
