A Champaign man was sentenced in Champaign County Circuit Court to jail and probation after discharging a firearm last fall in Rantoul.
Jamal Cook, 19, who listed an address in the 2000 block of Greendale Drive, Champaign, was sentenced to 30 months of probation and 52 days in the county jail after pleading guilty to reckless discharge of a firearm.
He admitted that on Nov. 12, he fired a gun while at a party in the area of Chanute and West streets in Rantoul, endangering the life of another man. No one was hit by the gunfire.
Another charge of aggravated unlawful use of weapons was dismissed in return for Cook’s plea.
Cook was told to report for his jail sentence on March 14.
