Rantoul’s newest business opens its doors Thursday.
Aaron’s will open at 841 Broadmeadow Road near Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Gopal Reddy, president and CEO of Action Development Corp., Springfield, said the store will open at 10 a.m.
A grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29.
U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson and Mayor Neal Williams will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening at 11 a.m.
Reddy is the owner-franchisee of 10 other Aaron’s stores in Illinois, including one on North Prospect Avenue in Champaign.
He said in an earlier interview that the store initially will employ six persons full time.
Aaron’s is geared toward moderate-income people for the lease-to-own or outright purchase of items for the home, including furniture, appliances and electronics — “basically everything that you need for the home,” Reddy said.
“We lease, and we sell retail.”
He said the store will set up a payment plan for items. If the customer is unable to continue the payment plan, he may bring the item back to the store and not be responsible for future payments, Reddy said.
If the customer should find later that he can continue to make payments, he may pick up the item and resume where he started and not be penalized.
Aaron’s also provides service for items it sells.
Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The store will be closed Sunday.
On the store closing early Saturdays and not being open Sundays, Reddy said, “We want to create a work environment for people to have a good family life.”
