Wilson picks up material to run for village board

RANTOUL — And now there are five.

A fifth person has picked up nominating petitions to run for Rantoul Village Board in the April election, and this person is a former board member.

Village Clerk Mike Graham said Gary Wilson picked up a candidate packet for the village board last week.

Wilson staged an unsuccessful campaign for mayor, finishing third in a three-way race in April 2017 that also included Chuck Smith, who was returned to office, and former Mayor Neal Williams.

Earlier, newcomers Jasmyne Boyce, Jan Falvey and Mark Owen Jr. picked up petitions as did Sherry Johnson, who last month was appointed to the board seat formerly held by Rich Medlen. Incumbents Hank Gamel, Jennifer Fox and Chad Smith had not picked up nominating petitions.
