Taylor Studios designs Lincoln exhibit

By Debra Rawlings
Rantoul Press reporter

Taylor Studios will build an exhibit for the Lincoln Museum space in the Champaign County Courthouse.

The design was approved in mid-January by the Lincoln Exhibits Committee of the Champaign County Board. It is the result of two years of collaboration between the county and the Early American Museum in Mahomet, according to a county board memo.

Visitors to the exhibit will enter through a simulation of the county courthouse as it appeared during the time when Lincoln worked there. Inside the exhibit, visitors will find a reconstructed 19th-century courtroom featuring Lincoln's circuit-riding experiences and social and legal experiences in the county.

The exhibit is expected to be finished by the middle of June. A formal dedication and opening of the exhibit, as well as the clock and bell tower, is planned for Aug. 29.
