Under Chief of Operation's direction, the Gas Systems Technician will install, repair, and maintain the Village's natural gas distribution system. Duties performed may include excavating around live gas lines, fusing pipe, forming meter sets, responding to JULIE locates, installing/replacing mains or service lines, investigating gas leaks, and assisting with the preparation of records and reports. This employee will also provide service and support in maintaining Village HVAC systems. The selected candidate must demonstrate knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school. The ability to be qualified as a gas system operator under ICC requirements is required, as well as the ability to develop a working knowledge of BOCA and NFPA 54.

Selected applicant will be required to live within a four mile radius of the corporate limits of Rantoul within six months after the completion of a six month probationary term. Possession or the ability to acquire a valid State of Illinois CDL Vehicle Operators License is required. A post-offer drug screen will be required of the selected applicant. Starting salary is competitive and will be based on the selected applicant's qualifications.
