One-man volleyball team to visit RTHS to talk about beating the odds

You wouldn’t think a volleyball team that consists of only one man would be very successful but that is not the case with Bob Holmes. Holmes is a one-man volleyball team and not only has he won volleyball games by himself, he’s won against professional teams such as the Redskins, Orioles and the Minnesota Vikings.

CHAMPAIGN — Zach Griffith's two-game playing streak ended Wednesday night against Wisconsin. But he was still plenty active for the Illinois basketball team.

He jumped off his seat and participated in huddles. He encouraged his teammates when they struggled. He kept his head in the game.


Rantoul bringing back 5K

RANTOUL — Rantoul will be holding a 5K Run & Walk race at 5:45 p.m. and a 1K Kids Fun Run at 7 p.m. April 5, with the races beginning at Rantoul Township High School.


Athlete of the Week: RTHS Marching Band

For the week of Nov. 18, Rantoul Township High School awarded the members of the Eagles’ marching band as the Athlete of the Week. “Under the direction of Mr. Matt Chesner, the band is the backbone of school spirit,” Rantoul athletic director Travis Flesner said. “They not only perform at the football and basketball games, but also at competitions and concerts throughout the year."

RANTOUL — It was a big week for the Rantoul soccer team, which took down Decatur Eisenhower 4-1 last Saturday before back-to-back wins over St. Joseph-Ogden, 2-0 last Tuesday, and Olympia (7-1 last Wednesday). The Eagles improved their mark to 5-6-1 this season with the victories.
