Maranatha Baptist Church to head east to new facility

RANTOUL — A longstanding Rantoul church will be moving to a new home.

Maranatha Baptist Church, 122 S. Chanute St., will begin services at its new digs on North Maplewood Drive beginning in April.

The church will be located in the building that, until last fall, housed Stone Creek Church, which has closed.

Potomac church to hold community Christmas Eve service

POTOMAC — Middlefork United Methodist Church in Potomac will be the host of a community Christmas Eve service.

It will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 24.


Community gathering to give thanks, honor veterans

RANTOUL — The Ministerial Coop of Rantoul has planned a gathering for the greater Rantoul community at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the United Methodist Church on South Century Boulevard.  

The preacher for the evening will be the Rev. Otis Evans of Greater New Light Baptist Church, who is president of the ministerial coop.


Church Women United to meet Nov. 2

RANTOUL — Church Women United will meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at First United Methodist Church 200 S. Century Blvd., Rantoul.

After a short meeting, Jo Warner will give a talk on the mission trip she took part in to Zacatecas, Mexico.  

A fellowship time will follow.

All women are invited to attend.

 


Rantoul church to honor pastor

RANTOUL — Greater New Light Missionary Baptist Church will honor the Rev. Otis Evans and his wife, Joann, for three years of service.

The pastor appreciation service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

Elder James Harden from The Church of the Living God, Champaign, will deliver the message.

The church is located at 1500 Sheppard Drive.


 


Rosary Rally set Oct. 13 at Thomasboro church

THOMASBORO — St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church will hold a Rosary Rally at noon Saturday, Oct. 13.

Rantoul pastor leads sermons in historic Wittenberg, Germany

RANTOUL — For many Lutherans, a trip to Lutherstadt (Luthertown) Wittenberg Castle Church in Germany is a pilgrimage.


Christian rock concert set July 11 in Fisher

FISHER — River Valley Church will host a free acoustic concert featuring Christian rock band Disciple at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11.

The event is free, but an offering will be received mid-concert with all proceeds going to the band.

The concert is co-sponsored by River Valley Church and Dewey Community Church.
