Park board monthly meeting date changed

RANTOUL — The June monthly meeting of the Rantoul Park Board will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at Rantoul Business Center.

The meeting date is a week later than the normal date, which is the third Thursday of the month.

The meetings are open to the public.


New massage business opens in downtown Rantoul

RANTOUL — A Cissna Park woman is opening a new massage business on June 1 in Rantoul.

Gabrielle Minnick, a recent graduate of the Kankakee Community College massage therapy program, will provide massages at Melting Hands Massage, 127 N. Garrard St. in downtown Rantoul.

“I got the idea for the name from one of my favorite sayings — let my hands melt your muscles,” Minnick said.


Man arrested after fleeing police

RANTOUL — A 44-year-old Rantoul man is in jail after sheriff’s deputies say he led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle.

According to the Champaign County sheriff’s office, deputies helped the Rantoul and Champaign police departments catch a man in a stolen vehicle.


Rantoul man gets 6 years in prison for aggravated battery to a child

URBANA — A Rantoul man has been sentenced to six years in prison for injuring a 16-month-old Ludlow boy in his care last summer.

Jade Kilgore, 22, pleaded guilty before Judge Tom Difanis Monday to the Class X felony of aggravated battery to a child.

Fisher fire under investigation

FISHER - Champaign County sheriff's investigators will take a closer look Monday at the circumstances surrounding a fire that destroyed an empty building in Fisher Thursday night.

Congressman to go 1-on-1 in Rantoul

RANTOUL — U.S. Rep. John Shimkus, R-Collinsville, will be available to meet with his Champaign County constituents Monday, April 6, in Rantoul.

Shimkus, now serving his 10th term in Congress and representing the 34-county 15th Congressional District, will be available for one-on-one meetings from 2:30 p.m.-3:45 p.m. at the Rantoul Municipal Building, 333 S. Tanner St.


Deer harvest up slightly in Illinois

CHAMPAIGN — Slightly more whitetail deer were harvested statewide during this year’s firearm season compared to last season, but in some areas like Vermilion, Piatt, Edgar and Iroquois counties, the numbers were down.


Police search for man in rural Potomac over stolen vehicle
