Armstrong-Potomac Volleyball: Trojans take 4th place at Cissna Park Tip-Off Classic

CISSNA PARK – The Armstrong-Potomac volleyball team took home fourth place in the Cissna Park Tip-Off Classic last week.
Angela Sieberns made the all-tournament team for the Trojans as A-P got off a 3-2 start to the 2016 season.

Boys Basketball: Rantoul, Mahomet meet for regional crown

RANTOUL — The Rantoul boys basketball team seeks its first regional crown since the 2010-11 season when the Eagles (23-6) take on the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs (20-10) at 7 p.m. Friday at Rantoul Township high school in the championship game of the IHSA Class 1A regional tournament.


Rantoul a hot bed of soccer Sunday

Twelve Central Illinois teams took to the back-to-back fields. The Panthers are a new team this year. Champaign Morelia defeated the Panthers 4-0.

The season started in April with games every Sunday starting at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. A playoff tournament will be held in September for the top eight teams.


RTHS JV team finishes 16-9

The RTHS JV baseball team finished their successful season in mid-May with a 16-9 record.  


Falcons football to hold signup

The Rantoul Falcons youth football program will hold another sign up from 9 to 11 a.m.  Saturday, June 18, for the 2011 season

Registration will be held at the Maplewood Sports Complex equipment shed.


RTG to host benefit to save theater

The Rantoul Theatre Group will seek musical performers for a "Save the Theatre" benefit and variety show: "East Central Illinois' So You Think You Got  Talent Show and Concert."

Three benefit performances will be held on July 15, 16, and 17, 2011 at the Grissom Hall Theatre.


Rantoul spring cleanup set for June 11, 18

Rantoul’s spring cleanup is just around the corner.

The village of Rantoul and CNS Sanitary of Rantoul will  host the cleanup from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays, June 11 and June 18, at the ramp area in front of Hangar 2 on the former Chanute Air Force Base.


Passion of the Pink cancer fundraiser set in Gifford

GIFFORD — An event to raise funds to fight cancer will be held this Saturday, June 4, in Gifford Park. 

Proceeds will go to the Christie Clinic Oncology Department and to fund a nursing scholarship.

Jim Nelson of Rantoul has received All American distinctions from Country Financial. 

They are among a group of more than 300 Country financial representatives and agency managers who qualified for the award. The firm has more than 2,000 financial representatives and agency managers in 14 states.
