Rantoul man charged with hitting ex with car jack, stealing her TV

URBANA — A Rantoul man remained in jail Wednesday following his arrest Monday for allegedly breaking into the home of an ex-girlfriend and striking her in the leg with a car jack.

Champaign County Judge John Kennedy set bond Tuesday for Joshua A. Davis, 31, who listed an address in the 100 block of North Garrard Street, at $100,000 and told him to be back in court April 16.

URBANA — A third young man from Rantoul who admitted he stole guns from a Rantoul store has been sentenced to seven years in juvenile prison.

Despite the 14-year-old’s declaration that he was ready to change, Judge Heidi Ladd said he hadn’t done enough in the last few months to prove that.


Man admits to sexual abuse

URBANA — A Rantoul man who pleaded guilty to inappropriately touching a teen after being found with her in the back seat of a van has been provisionally sentenced to four years of probation.

Ronnell Throw, 21, who listed an address in the 400 block of Marco Drive, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Judge Roger Webber to aggravated criminal sexual abuse.


Rantoul man gets 7 years prison for Rural King break-in

URBANA — A Rantoul man who admitted he took part in breaking into two Rural King stores, stealing guns from one, is headed to prison.

Henry J. Boykins, 24, who listed an address in the 200 block of Winding Lane, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Judge Tom Difanis to two burglaries, each of which happened early on Nov. 21.


Rantoul man charged with being armed habitual criminal

URBANA — A Rantoul man who allegedly possessed stolen property and a weapon in a home where he was staying last week remains in the Champaign County jail.

Justin Mims, 31, who listed an address in the 1500 block of Collier Drive, was criminally charged Monday with being an armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, and theft.


Shooters who fired into Rantoul homes wanted

RANTOUL — Champaign County Crime Stoppers needs help finding the person or people who fired guns into two homes in Rantoul in January, damaging property only.

On Thursday, Jan. 17, Rantoul officers were sent to the 1300 block of Abram Drive, where they found three bullet holes in the siding of the home.
