Nursing home sale date may be pushed to April 21

URBANA — The sale of the Champaign County Nursing Home may be delayed yet again.

The latest state-imposed deadline to close the transaction expires at the end of this month, but another extension — until April 1 — is being sought from regulators.

BOLINGBROOK — The Champaign County Nursing Home is on its way to becoming privately owned, now that a sale lined up by county officials has been approved by state regulators.

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board voted at a hearing Tuesday in Bolingbrook to approve the sale to Evanston-based private owners for $11 million.

URBANA — Decades after working his way up through the ranks of Champaign County law enforcement, Rantoul resident Allen Jones is likely on his way to becoming the next sheriff.

URBANA — A Rantoul man is headed to prison in connection with a 2015 drunken driving accident that left a young teen on a bicycle severely injured.

Juan Gaspar Miguel-Juan, 37, was sentenced Monday by Judge Adam Dill to 10 years in the Department of Corrections.


Police say large amount of meth found in Ludlow man's car

URBANA — Bond was set Friday at $500,000 for a Ludlow man driving a car in which police allegedly found 456 grams of methamphetamine.

Shawndale Cowell, 42, who gave an address of 113 Vine, Ludlow, was charged with two Class X felony counts — possession of methamphetamime with intent to deliver and possession of methamphetamine from 400-900 grams.
