McCusker, Roseman striving to earn medals, make history for Eagles

RANTOUL — In the history of Rantoul Township High School wrestling, only two wrestlers have placed in the top four of the state tournament, only one has wrestled for a state championship, and the only year in which two Eagles earned all-state medals was 1971.

Elijah Hall was hoping for a time in the 15's, but the junior, who finished third in the Illini Prairie Conference Finals, had to settle for 16 minutes, 12.1 seconds.

The Rantoul cross-country team finished seventh with 196 points without Elijah Hall, who had a prior engagement. Bloomington won the Normal Open with 27 points.

Giflats win regular-season title

The Gifford-Flattville Giflats will head to the Eastern Illinois Baseball League Jamboree with a 15-5 record. By posting the best record in league, the Giflats will have the top seed in the jamboree as well as the playoffs. They won the overall title and are poised for the jamboree.
