Rantoul boy track team's Swift, Cunningham, Harper, Buford and Hall set school records

On Saturday, two new indoor school records were set by the Rantoul boys track team.

More might fall in the next two weeks, or maybe three weeks if you are fortunate enough to be included in the upcoming Top Times Meet, which will only invite you if you have one of the top 16 times in the state.


Eagles fall to Mahomet 61-56 in regional game

RANTOUL — When a team loses a close game, a coach can point to many reasons. The Rantoul Township High School Eagles ended their season on Monday night with a 61-55 loss to the Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs in the opening round of the Illinois High School Association Class 3A Regional, which was held at RTHS.

The Rantoul boys track team competed in its second indoor meet of the year, the Normal West hosted Wildcat Invitational, which was held at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Roseman and McCusker finish fourth in IHSA Class 2A state

 In the history of Rantoul Township High School, there has never, ever been two medalists finish fourth place or better at the Illinois High School Association State Finals. Until Saturday, when Peter McCusker, Rantoul’s 145-pound grappler, and Nolan Roseman, Rantoul’s 152-pound wrestler, both finished fourth in their respective weight classes.

Trojan boys take fifth at county tournament

DANVILLE — In the final 39 seconds of the game, Kyler Stephens simply could not miss from the free throw line in the fifth-place game at the Vermilion County boys basketball tournament.

Stephens’ six free throws in the final minute pushed Armstrong-Potomac Trojans past Georgetown-Ridge Farm, 59-52, Saturday night.


McCusker, Roseman striving to earn medals, make history for Eagles

RANTOUL — In the history of Rantoul Township High School wrestling, only two wrestlers have placed in the top four of the state tournament, only one has wrestled for a state championship, and the only year in which two Eagles earned all-state medals was 1971.

Elijah Hall was hoping for a time in the 15's, but the junior, who finished third in the Illini Prairie Conference Finals, had to settle for 16 minutes, 12.1 seconds.


Eagles Compete at Mattoon, Herscher

MATTOON — The Rantoul Eagles will have bigger cross country meets this year, but not two in the same week.

In a rare occurrence, the Eagles competed in two large meets less than 48 hours apart.
